Permaculture and Primal PaintingPermaculture Weekend €100 (£125) Primal Painting follow-on £200 (€300)
The programme this week is divided into two independent units. You may sign up for either one or both units.
The first portion, from Friday (19 June) evening through Monday morning (22 June) will be a continuation of the deep introduction to Permaculture that Craig and Beatriz, two members of the Findhorn Ecovillage in N. Scotland, began here last September. Permaculture means permanent culture, that is, a sustainable culture. What we have today in the so-called developed world is not sustainable, depending as it does on unlimited growth and exploitation of our planet's limited natural resources. A worldwide initiative called the global ecovillage movement, has arisen out of the intentional communities movement of the 1960s and 1970s and is about developing and manifesting four core attributes of what would make a culture permanent: (1) environmental sustainability, (2) economic sustainability, (3) socially sustainable, with (4) an holistic spiritual worldview. The Findhorn Community has been a pioneer in the creation of the Ecovillage Paradigm through its concept of co-creation with nature and its ongoing investigations into the nature of self and the mystery of life unfolding on this planet today. The simple tools learnt there over the last 46 years have enabled Findhorn to inspire many other communities. These tools come in the diverse forms of songs and dances, solar panels and community supported agriculture, and group processes like sharing circles. So, our week's programme begins by experiencing these tools here at Kalikalos, on the land in Pelion, and in our daily group circles. We will learn how deep democracy, wilderness restoration, meditation and healing all combine together synergistically to bring about an holistic life style and to enable us to apply permaculture concepts to our own home situation. We are all still learning about the critical ingredients that are necessary for a permanent culture, so as a group we will share our own projects interchanging ideas and know-how.

The second unit of this week's programme, Primal Painting, begins on Monday the 22nd and continues to Friday the 26th. Our facilitators, Craig and Beatriz, will be introducing a simple yet profound way of allowing your creative self to express all the colours of life, the lighter and darker shades and as it unfolds a story is revealed which was unknown before. No artistic skills are needed for Primal Painting just the willingness to play with paint and paper. One of the very basic principles of permaculture is that “if it isn't fun, it isn't sustainable.” Primal painting is about having fun with colour and paint, and it's also about exploring sides of yourself that you may never have yet known. It is an inspiring way to expand your spiritual practice. For either unit of this week's programme you are cordially invited to bring your favourite musical instruments, poems, songs and stories to share around the circle.
